A group of e3+ participants from Treorchy Comprehensive have been busy over the last year creating their own movies, one of which scooped a top award at the International Youth Film Festival in Port Talbot this summer.
The young people – Matthew Leon, Bronwyn Ellis, Jazmin Williams, Josephine Eddy, Owen Gillard, Adam Morgan, Ben Gardner, Demi Powell, Marc Cox, Matthew Eveson, Emily Wilton and Hollie Horsell – are no strangers to scooping top awards, as their previous film “The Message” topped the same bill at last year’s festival.
This year’s film, entitled ‘Fierce Headbutt’, is a sci-fi superhero adventure about a boy’s quest to stand up to a vicious gang of school bullies to win back the girl of his dreams. The film which examines the moral conundrum of whether it is better to do a good deed which has unintended bad consequences, or a bad deed which has unintended good consequences, enabled the students to once again walk away from the festival with the prestigious award for the Best UK Short Film.
The group will continue to hone their ever-expanding movie-making skills every Friday after school as part of the e3+ Programme.
